Stran L. Trout was recently
appointed by Governor Bob McDonnell for a three year term as the fifth member
of the Virginia Racing Commission. He replaces outgoing
Commissioner Mark Brown.
Chairman Stuart Siegel, Vice Chairman J. Sargeant
Reynolds, Jr., David Reynolds, and Carol Dawson are the other members of the
Commission.
Commissioner Trout has long
been active in civic affairs in New Kent County where Colonial Downs is located.
He served on the New Kent Board of Supervisors, the County Planning Commission,
and numerous other Commissions.
Most notably for Virginia horse racing Stran
Trout was on the Pari-Mutuel Study Committee in 1988-89 that helped bring about
the opening of Colonial Downs.
Trout is a 1974 graduate of
the University of Richmond law school. He worked for many years as counsel for
the U.S. Small Business Administration and as a Special Assistant United States
Attorney.
