
Dr. Jens von Lepel will be the judge of the 2012 Virginia
Breeders Fund Yearling Futurity.
Von Lepel graduated with degrees in agriculture and veterinary medicine from the University of Hanover, Germany where he worked as an assistant medical director for the university horse clinic for four years.

Prior to moving to the U.S. in 1997, von Lepel managed two of the leading Thoroughbred stud farms for more than 22 years in Germany. During
this time he also served as Board Member of the German Jockey Club.
Since 1997, von Lepel has been the General Manager and Resident Veterinarian of Audley
Farm. Audley is located
in Berryville, VA. Their main focus is breeding and preparing yearlings for the Keeneland and Fasig-Tipton sales.
Audley has been among the top breeders in Virginia for many of the past ten years, and leading breeder on one occasion. In 2004, Audley Farm
sold its first one million dollar yearling at Keeneland.
Audley Farm’s most
successful racehorses in the last years include multiple Graded Stakes winner
Mandy’s Gold (2002 Va-bred Horse of the Year) and Kentucky Derby and Preakness runner-up Bodemeister.
The $15,000 yearling futurity is Saturday, August 27th at
the Warrenton Horse Show Grounds.
