SILVER MAX SCRATCHED OUT OF AMERICAN DERBY

SILVER MAX has won 6 races on the turf in 2012 including the American Turf (shown here) and has yet to headed.
Reports of a possible scratch of Silver Max in the $200,000 American Derby at Arlington Park were launched Friday evening when Daily Racing Form correspondent, Marcus Hersch tweeted that Silver Max was not among the Romans' arrivals.  On Saturday morning on the Equibase website, Silver Max was listed among scratches for Saturday's Arlington Million preview day.  Certainly the withdrawal opens the door for the turf acer to compete in the $600,000 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs on July 21st. Undefeated on the turf in 2012, Silver Max could return to Arlington Park for the $400,000 Secretariat Stakes in August.  In May, the Badge of Silver colt wired the $125,000 Arlington Classic field.
