SILVER MAX GALLOPS AT COLONIAL

SILVER MAX and groom Ubaldo Maldonado Friday morning at Colonial Downs.
Dale Romans' duo Silver Max and Finnegan's Wake arrived at Colonial Downs during the day on Thursday and got acclimated to an approaching cold front and Colonial Downs Friday morning.  Silver Max is the 4-5 favorite in Saturday night's $600,000 Virginia Derby to be run Saturday night at 8:38 pm. Finnegan's Wake is owned by Jerry Crawford's Donegal Racing who won the 2010 Virginia Derby with Paddy O'Prado.

The New Kent track hasn't seen any rainfall overnight and throughout Friday morning.  The cold front provides a break to a warm spell with temperature pushing to creep over 85 degrees for Saturday night's 14 race program.

Kim Boniface galloped Silver Max and then jogged Finnegan's Wake Friday morning.  Boniface exercised 2004 Virginia Derby winner, Kitten's Joy for Dale Romans.  After the track closed for the morning, assistant trainer Jason Cook led the dynamic duo into Colonial's "Guest" paddock for schooling.
