THOROUGHBRED RACING ECONOMIC INDICATORS UP

Total pari-mutuel wagering in North America went up in February from $821,676,865 in 2011 to $884,149,099 in 2012 – an increase of 7.6 percent.  For the first two month of the year, total wagering is up 3.4% from $1,649,465,107 last year to $1,702,844,131 this year.

Purses increased 13.93% in February as opposed to last year.  Over $8.5 million was added to purses in 2012.  For the year, purses are up $10 million (8.26%)

Racing days also increased in February of 2012 from 312 to 332.
