Mark Rusell’s Russell Road won a $32,000 allowance race at Charles Town on the undercard for the $400,000 Charles Town Oaks.  Russell Road is a product of the VTA’s Stallion Season Auction. His breeder, Robert Lloyd, purchased a season from the auction for the stallion Wheaton, and the rest, as they say, is history.  Russell Road has won 18 races from 30 starts.  Thirteen of those wins have come in black-type events and his career earnings stand at $919,624.
