Two winners of the Virginia Derby are thought to be major contenders for the world’s richest horse race.
With nearly 50 possible representatives from the U.S., this year's Dubai World Cup has a significant chance to be brought home by the red, white and blue. Virginia Derby winners Gio Ponti and Paddy O'Prado lead a list of contenders that include Drosselmeyer, Misremembered, Alcindor, Sidney's Candy, I Want Revenge and Square Eddie.
Many of the nominees have been cross-nominated in one or more of the six other races on the World Cup card.
