By Susie Hart, Hart Farm, Boyce, VA. Our mare Holy Macanaw foaled a filly by Tiz Wonderful on Saturday night - just hours after Quality Road's huge achievement - and ours was also memorable. Our roads were hardly passable – every vehicle was stuck except our tractor and old 4 wheel drive truck.
We are lucky to have generators so we can at least watch the foaling stall from our house when the power is out, but this time we weren't sure we could make it to the barn even with the tractor.
At 9:45 pm the foal alert alarm went off, and we leapt out of bed. We had our Carharts by the bed and literally had to kick open the back door because the snow was so high.
When we got to the barn, the doors were frozen shut and once again, we found ourselves kicking and yanking to get them open. Finally, we got in the barn and the foaling was uneventful.
When we got back to bed at midnight, we turned on the TV and watched the mare and foal from the warmth and comfort of our house. The next morning I promptly filed a live foal report, and submitted the name Tiz The Bliz.
I am quite sure we won't ever forget this foaling.

Tiz the Bliz is beautiful. Love the name. Hope you post more pictures of her so I can watch her grow.
I'm near Richmond and we had snow also, but nothing like you have.
