Trainer Jimmy Jerkens changed his mind and decided to work Quality Road this morning as opposed to next week. The reasons for the changes appear to be that the horse was doing very well, the racetrack was in perfect condition and the weather in New York (which like here in Virgina has been a bit "crappy" of late) was as nice as it's been in awhile. Well done, Mr. Jerkens.
In response to this change in schedule, QR worked 6 frulongs in 1:12 in change and galloped out 7/8ths in 1:25. He went the first half in :49, and his trainer was quite pleased with his effort. By all accounts he came back sound and cooled out well.
If the quarter crack is going to play any role going forward, we will no doubt know more about it tomorrow. If it's cool and happy, this may be the last you hear of it...Wouldn't that be nice?
