BIG BROWN HAS QUARTER CRACK

Triple Crown hopeful Big Brown has developed a “slight” quarter crack on the inside of his front left hoof, but his connections remain confident he will be 100% for the $1-million Belmont Stakes (G1) on June 7.

“It scares us this happened, but this has nothing to do with his ability to finish what he started,” trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. said Sunday morning. “If it were two weeks [in between the Preakness Stakes (G1) and the Belmont] I’d be nervous. It’s bad it happened, but it’s good it happened now. He’s going to be okay.”
